A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin is an eight book series. The first five have so far been published, they are: A Game of Thrones A Clash of Kings A Storm of Swords 1: Steel and Snow A Storm of Swords 2: Blood and Gold A Feast for Crows. The three reamining books are to be called: A Dance with Dragons The Winds of Winter A Dream of Spring The books follow many Point of View characters aroud a very well thought out world with cultures that - in my opinion - could well rival those of Tolkien.
I like A Song of Ice and Fire because it isn't another High Fantasy series like so many around lately. The characters are so well thought out and realistic that I have trouble pulling myself from the books. The plot line is unpredictable and gripping. George R.R. Martin has become known for the fact that none of his characters are safe, despite their importance.
If anyone hasn't read these books I seriously recommend you do.

Thanks for the recommendation, I am not sure but are these books about dragons? Or what? It sounds like a fantastic series and I look forward to reading it.

I won't give away too much but dragons take a large role in the series from the second book onwards.
On another note, the series is being made into a TV series on HBO. I can't wait.
