How many people on this board write? Poetry, novels, short stories, whatever?
I enjoy writing short stories and novels. I'm fairly bad at poetry. My novels are usually fantasy, supernatural or thrillers that portray in some form or another the evil in human spirit. Otherwise I write short stories in many genres, but usually horror or war.
Feel free to say what you like writing and reading.

I am writing the first book in a Trilogy called 'The Black Sword Trilogy.' I'd like some comments on it- and be BRUTALLY HONEST. I fully intend to get it published, and the better it is the first time, the less i will have to do over. I am pretty good at poetry and short stories too. I write like all the time- you should see how many journals i use up. I have a question though: how much are we allowed to put on? LIke a chapter, or a paragraph? I know it can't be like the whole book, but is there a particular guideline?

I have always wanted to write a book of some sort, but I never put forth the time. I am a procrastinator. I have made some attempts at poetry, but they aren't really finished work. I hope to post some in the future, but I am not sure if I will.
I guess I now have a reason for writing. I look forward to reading everyone's work.

ciryator: Obviously not a whole book. Posting a chapter on your own thread seems like the likely way to go if you want to get straight to it and skip writing up the plotline.
Trust me, if you want brutally honest you came to the right place.
The odds of getting published first try are pretty slim, that goes for anyone, anywhere, regardless of their work. It just doesn't happen that easily.
Demosthenes: I look forward to reading anything you write in the furture. No better time to get motivated than the present. Speaking of which...I might post a thread on getting motivated at some point...

i like to write novels and short stories, i have been told im a really good poet but im not all that into poetry. I had many short stories and three novels a whle ago but then the computer got a fatel virus and i lost everything, and since then i have lost the will to write anything, i would just rather think of stories and not write it down or type it or what ever.

I am writing a book, probably going to be a trilogy, and it is called 'The Quest of Serinia'. Serinia is the name of the land that Ikerpenge(based on me;)) is trying to save. She is the princess of Serinia and she has a twin brother that is called 'Tripenge' that was taken to a huge evil place, and his eyes turn completely black, and (using t.v. commercial quote here) there is much, much more! I welcome all of you to the board and don't hesitate to post up short stories or chapters or whatnot. I'll be posting up a short story some time soon.
Ikerpenge: It's ok to have a character based on you but remember not to make him to Mary Sueish.
