Getting motivated can often be a hard thing to do while writing. Common thoughts are: "I have too much other work," or "I can't get into my mojo, (or something along those lines)"
There are a few things that I like to do while I feel like I can't get motivated.
1. Music. This is the major one for me. I personally prefer to listen to movie soundtracks. Especially if you can link certain music to a scene you are writing. I am often listening to music while writing. 2. Map out your world. This is only really useful when I'm writing fantasy and because I often draw half a map and then leave it for a while. Along with this, draw anything in general from your book. 3. Go for a run. This clears the mind and help you think. It might be useful to listen to an iPod or whatnot while running. 4. Read a good book from the genre you are writing. Just remember not to take too much of that book on board or your writing will begin to imitate it. 5. Read a bad book (by literature standards, not personal prefernce). This is good for showing you how not to write. ie, telling rather than showing, run on sentences, poor character development etc.
Hope this may have helped someone.
